CDAMP MODULE II. OVERVIEW

A. “BODY SYSTEMS”

    • Describe the structure and function of the cell
    • Divide the body into planes and cavities
    • Understand structure & function of general body systems
    • Familiarize with conditions and diseases of the body systems
    • and their relationship to dental treatment

B. “HEAD & NECK ANATOMY”

    • Identify the cranial and facial bones and their landmarks
    • Identify parts of the temporomandiblar joint
    • Identify landmarks of the face and oral cavity
    • Identify muscles of mastication, facial expression, and the floor of the mouth
    • Trace nerve and blood supply of the teeth

C. “EMBRYOLOGY & HISTOLOGY”

    • Identify terms and times related to the phases of pregnancy
    • Describe how the human face develops
    • Describe tooth formation, eruption and resorption
    • Identify location and function of the tissues of the teeth
    • Describe the structure and formation of enamel, dentin, pulp, and cementum
    • Identify the components of the periodontium
    • Describe the structures of the gingiva and oral mucosa

D. “TOOTH MORPHOLOGY”

    • Identify the dental arches and quadrants
    • Name the primary and permanent teeth by their location
    • Identify anatomic and clinical divisions of the tooth
    • Identify anatomical landmarks on each tooth found in the oral cavity
    • Label the surfaces of the teeth
