The 95% Club is something new to Diven. It\u2019s so new that I literally just started it this weekend as I studied attendance data. I\u2019m thrilled to bits to announce that as of November 1, 2019, a whopping 239 Diven scholars are part of our brand-spanking new 95% Club! So, what is this club, and why do you want your child to be a member?<\/p>\n
The 95% Club is for students who have missed no more than 95% of the school year (that is, no more than an average of one<\/em> day each month). Students who attend at least 95% of the school year are more academically, socially, and emotionally successful than their peers who are absent. They are also very likely to graduate from high school.<\/p>\n Of the 239 students who made the 95% Club, 115 had perfect attendance! Not a day missed! Both of my children caught the flu, so we\u2019re not perfect but we\u2019re still part of the 95% Club and proud of it. ?<\/p>\n Marc Witt, the General Manager of the Elmira Enforcers and the Elmira Pioneers, is just as excited for this Club as I am. He\u2019s giving Diven scholars in our 95% Club a free game ticket, and scholars with perfect attendance are getting two free game tickets. Additional tickets for these families will be only $10 each\u2014a savings of more than 60%! What a special way to celebrate with your child. It goes without saying that Elmira City School District does not endorse<\/em> this event, I just think it\u2019s cool as cool can be. And you\u2019ll get these tickets and discounts every month that you are in the Club.<\/p>\n Didn\u2019t make the Club? It\u2019s not too late. Let\u2019s say your child has missed four days of school already. Don\u2019t miss any more school before the end of January and you\u2019re right back in our 95% Club.
