They are learning at different paces and comparing themselves to their peers, when they should be comparing themselves to\u2026themselves! My own little first grader was upset that \u201call the other kids\u201d knew how to tie their shoes, and she didn\u2019t, #momfail. She had that moment where she believed that tying shoes was a natural-born skill. But what are we learning about right now? Grit! You get better at something by doing it repeatedly\u2014often while failing, again and again. The people who have mastered a skill or overcome an obstacle have rarely done so on the first try, the second try, or even the tenth try. Keep working towards your goal, and you will reach it.
