Martin Luther King, Jr. Books & Activities

By | January 14, 2019

What better way to celebrate the character trait, courageous, this month than by celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! All month long, our children will be learning about Dr. King and how his bravery and drive for justice propelled the civil rights movement forward. Our quote this month is from Dr. King: “Courage is the power of the mind to overcome fear.”

The Rotary Club Readers will be coming to Diven Elementary to read to all of our classes. The book they have gifted to each class is I Am Martin Luther King, Jr. by Brad Meltzer. It’s a great book for all of our children that we are sure they will love reading with the Rotary Club volunteers! Here are some more books we either are reading in class or at home this week–please check them out at your local library:

Martin’s Big Words by Rappaport

The Story of Martin Luther King, Jr. by Moore

My Brother Martin by Farris

My Daddy, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by King III

I Have a Dream by Nelson
