In this week’s Diven Dolphin Dispatch, we learn about upcoming events, put out a call for volunteers for our Super Scholar Spring Fling, and get a peek of the visit from CVHS.

The Chemung County Historical Society visited the Kindergarten classes last week! Next time you’re in the building, check out our displays of historical artifacts from the Chemung Valley History Museum, like the one by the library. Our children love learning about our history, especially our local history.

The Chemung Valley History Museum is a kid-friendly destination right here in Elmira. It’s located at 415 E. Water Street and open Monday – Saturday from 10am – 5pm. Children under age 5 get free admission! All other child admissions are only $1.00, and adult admissions are $5.00.

Not discussed in the Dispatch: my youngest daughter turned four! She is so excited that next year she will be able to attend Diven Elementary School’s free pre-kindergarten program and see her older sister (who will be a first grader!). She has heard so many wonderful things about the teachers there from her sister and me, and whenever I’ve brought her in to the school, the staff and scholars have been so welcoming to her. As my oldest daughter was happily reading and doing math when she graduated from Diven pre-K, I can’t wait to see how my youngest will grow in the Elmira City School District!
