Summer Slide is a real thing. Every summer, children are in danger of losing months of learning. Reading skills are especially vulnerable, as reading is something that requires daily practice with our age group. Your Diven scholar will be heading home this summer with a personal library thanks to our C.A.R.E. grant–the books are yours to keep! Please read with your child at least twenty minutes each day. You can also join the local library’s Summer Reading Program (this program is not endorsed by the Elmira City School District; I just think it’s cool).
