A Book on Every Bed

By | December 6, 2019

December 21 is the first day of Winter!

What a special winter tradition this will be!

Your child will wake up on this first winter morning to find a gift-wrapped book at the foot of his or her bed!

We have a FREE book ready for you at Diven Elementary!

Come pick out and wrap a book for your child at morning drop-off from 7:45am – 8:30am and after school from 2:45pm – 3:00pm Monday – Friday 12/9 – 12/13. Or you can come to our Family Event on Friday evening at 6pm.

If these times don’t work for you, please contact the Parent Partner—we’ll find a way.

Wrap your book, take it home, and leave it as a gift for your child at the foot of the bed.

It will be the first gift your child will find this magical season!

According to Family Reading Partnership:

Why This Campaign Works

  • Grows with a child: A Book on Every Bed is a holiday tradition that every child will look forward to year after year, as his brain, body, and library of books grows!
  • Increases book value: A beautifully wrapped book, carefully selected for a child, is a way for parents to promote the value of books and foster a lifelong love of reading.
  • Deepens the relationship with books: Book ownership allows a child to return again and again to a cherished story, alone, or with a loved one.
  • Fosters learning: When you give a book, you also give the promise of reading aloud together, frequently and pleasurably, which is a proven model for language acquisition and literacy.

Continue the tradition throughout the year: any special day like a birthday, graduation, or last day of school could also be A Book on Every Bed Day!
