Phase II Begins! Virtual Learning & Schoology Info

By | April 13, 2020

There are two great pieces of advice I can give you: 1. Use the Chrome browser for the best experience (iRead won’t work in Firefox, and will be part of Schoology assignments) and 2. Don’t drive yourself crazy with this.

You are not expected, nor would it be advised, to sit your child down in front of Schoology for a full school day’s worth of hours.  In fact, for our grade level, expect your child to sit through only 30 minutes – 120 minutes a day, depending on grade level and attention span.

Materials

If you don’t have suggested materials, use something you do have. For example, you can use Cheerios instead of unit cubes for math work.

Schoology Basics

Your Schoology login information was mailed to your home, and if your home is like mine, it was promptly misplaced. No worries! If you’ve lost your login information and have access to SchoolTool or ParentPortal, your child’s user name is LASTNAME-FIRSTNAME and the password is their student ID number (and that info is in SchoolTool and ParentPortal). If you don’t have access, you can contact me (ezilinski@gstcontractors.com) or your child’s teacher to get this information.

You’ll be able to conference with your child’s teacher at least four times a week. Check out the PDF: How to Conference with your Teacher in Schoology for how to do this. The hours will be:

PreK & K: 8am – 9am
1st: 9am – 10am
2nd: 10am – 11am

Paper Copies of Materials

Paper copies of materials are available if you prefer, and can be picked up at meal distribution time. They can be picked up at any location! However, if you are using Schoology, you will not need the print materials.

Still Need Help?

I’m here to help you. I have a child in PreK and a first grader, so I’m going through many of the same things you are. If you have any questions, concerns, comments, please reach out. ezilinski@gstcontractors.com
