As you can tell, my name is Ryanna, but friends call me Ry. I am currently a junior in Watkins Glen High School and have been on high honor roll for all three years of high school. Aside from maintaining stellar grades, many clubs and other activities outside of school catch my attention.
I currently participate on the varsity girls basketball team, and we are making a state title run. I have played basketball since fourth grade and immediately fell in love with the sport. My skill was not as big as my love for the sport though, until about eight grade when I matriculated to the junior varsity team. Little did I know that those three years on junior varsity under coach Scott Morse would be some of the best of my high school career. Aside from playing basketball, I also play varsity soccer, run (or jump) in track, and compete in a club or AAU basketball. AAU is a whole different ball game than the school season, and highly competitive. Through these sports I have many trophies and medals for my wall.
During my last year of modified soccer, I won the most valuable player award for my team. This year in soccer although I did not earn any awards, I made what people later told me was a very skilled and entertaining goal. I used my head to hit the ball in the goal from a corner kick for my first and only goal of the season. It was an incredible experience and I received many congratulations afterwards. My participation in basketball has awarded me far many though. During my second and third years of junior varsity, I earned the MVP award for the season. In those two years I also earned the MVP award for our annual Melissa B. Wilson Holiday Tournament.
In school, I strive to attain and maintain a 95 or above overall average and have managed to do so this year. I plan to use these grades and my work ethic in school and out of school, and during basketball to get noticed by colleges I’d like to go to. Ideally, I will go to school to be a lawyer and eventually earn a Juris Doctor degree. Aside from being a lawyer, I will own a small photography business. Photography is a hobby of mine and I have already been successful in selling a few pieces.
