I volunteer at the Burdett Fire Department, I enjoy volunteering here more than anything because it pushes me to be the best I can be and shows me I can complete any hard task that is thrown at me. What I have learned in this two year experience that I have the ability to accomplish what many can not which is running into a burning building or risking it all to go save someones life who I have never met. This will help me in the future because from this experience I have seen many incidents that has shaped me into becoming a police officer and being able to handle hard situations will get me further in the law enforcement field.
I have completed a BEEFO class which is a basic firefighting class that certifies you as a firefighter. At the age of 17 I have earned a certificate for being a firefighter in Schuyler County. I also received top responder award in the fire department. Top responder means I responded to more calls than all the other members of the fire department. This was big accomplishment to me because it proves that working hard can get you many places in life. For this accomplishment I have went to over 100 training and still continue training to be the best firefighter I can be, many hard working hours on call and off call helped me advance my knowledge to the best of my ability.
