  • Rodney Miller: I am Emily Cron’s long-term substitute for Literacy and Humanities for the duration of the school year. This is my first year as a teacher however, this is not my first experience with interacting with youth. I have many years experience working with youth from a variety of different backgrounds. It was at Finger Lakes Residential Center rand George Jr. where I discovered my passion for wanting to make a difference in a students life before they end up in a situation such as a Finger Lakes. I received my Bachelors Degree in Human Development from Binghamton University. I received two years training in early childhood education at SUNY Cortland, and most recently received my Masters  Degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University and, I  am certified as a Special Education Generalist.

  • Stephanie Panfel: This is my 26th year of teaching and I have been at Spencer for 16 years. I have worked here as a Reading Teacher, 5th grade classroom teacher, Social Studies teacher and now a teacher of Humanities and Literacy. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and attended Brooklyn College for my Bachelor’s Degree. I then moved to Ithaca, NY and received my first Masters in Education from SUNY Cortland and then received my Reading Certification from Elmira College. In my free time, I enjoy sailing on Cayuga Lake with my family.

  • Mrs. Angela Holmes – Literacy Coach Grades 5-8.  This is my tenth year teaching at Spencer Van Etten and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.  I’ve been in education for the past eighteen years, in many different roles, in multiple states.  I began as a classroom teacher and have taught Kindergarten, Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Grades in Kansas, Virginia, and now New York. The past 5 years I have been working as a literacy specialist at our elementary school and this year have become full time here at the middle school.   My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Mansfield University, PA.  My master’s degree is from Old Dominion University, VA and is in Reading Education Grade K-12.  I live in Spencer NY with my husband and three children.  When I’m not working with kids, I like to garden, run, read and watch my kids play sports.  I love books and have read many but my most favorite book is, Walk Two Moons, by Sharon Creech.
