6th Grade

  • Jeannette: I am excited to be in my 10th year of teaching sixth grade here at Spencer-Van Etten. Prior to teaching, I studied at SUNY Cortland in New York and University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia. I have traveled around the globe to 31 different countries to bolster our world history curriculum including working with students in Malaysia and Fiji. In my free time I enjoy teaching fitness classes, disc jockeying, scrapbooking, cooking, and watching stand up comedy. My favorite food is chocolate, I love penguins, and I enjoy listening to a wide array of music. I cherish the growths my students and I make every year!

  • Nicole DeLaney: I am a sixth grade Literacy and Humanities teacher as well as the Middle School ELA Coordinator and Middle School CIM Coordinator.  I have taught for eleven years and have been in the Spencer-Van Etten School District for nine years.  Throughout my teaching career I have had the opportunity to teach  Pre-K, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, sixth grade, and acted as the Literacy Coach for Spencer-Van Etten Elementary and Middle School.  I received my Bachelors of Arts in Education and Masters of Education from SUNY Fredonia and am certified in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, Grades 7-12 English Language Arts, Students with Disabilities, and Literacy.  Teaching is truly my passion; I love being able to meet students where they are as individual learners and help them grow into lifelong readers, writers, learners, critical thinkers, and globally aware citizens.

  • Mrs. Angela Holmes – Literacy Coach Grades 5-8.  This is my tenth year teaching at Spencer Van Etten and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.  I’ve been in education for the past eighteen years, in many different roles, in multiple states.  I began as a classroom teacher and have taught Kindergarten, Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Grades in Kansas, Virginia, and now New York. The past 5 years I have been working as a literacy specialist at our elementary school and this year have become full time here at the middle school.   My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Mansfield University, PA.  My master’s degree is from Old Dominion University, VA and is in Reading Education Grade K-12.  I live in Spencer NY with my husband and three children.  When I’m not working with kids, I like to garden, run, read and watch my kids play sports.  I love books and have read many but my most favorite book is, Walk Two Moons, by Sharon Creech.
